Tankless Hot Water Heater
Instant,
unlimited hot water at your fingertips, at a fraction of the cost.
Sounds too good to be true? Here is how it works.
Water comes from your main line to the tankless hot water heater system
that you have installed. This water is heated almost instantaneously as
you need it. There is no storage tank holding the water. As you are
running your shower, dishwasher, etc. water is continuously moving
through the system and being heated on an “as
needed” basis. Your tankless hot water heater can be powered
by electricity or gas (natural gas or propane). When you turn on your
tap the heating element is turned on, rapidly heating the water, at
your desired temperature, until the tap is turn off, at which point the
element is shut off. Imagine the savings on your water heating bill,
maintenance and replacement of a new storage tank hot water heater! It
can actually save you between 20 - 70% annually depending on what model
you choose and how it is powered, electric or gas.
For 75 years, Europe and Japan have used tankless hot water heaters
because of their high gas and electricity costs as well as their
compact size. In North America, the tankless hot water heater was
introduced in the late 1970's though is only now becoming more popular
as electricity and gas prices are on the rise. It is also worth noting
that consumers and
government legislation are becoming more environmentally minded and
energy conscious. In some states and provinces local energy companies
are offering rebates to consumers who switch over to the tankless
system; an incentive we may see more often.
There are a variety of models to choose from and a knowledgeable sales
associate should provide you with enough information to meet the hot
water needs for your home.
